SMS and ESP

May 11, 2009 · 1 Comment

If you haven’t done so already, you might want to call your email service provider and ask them about incorporating SMS (txt messages) as part of their service offering.  Just image:

You can use SMS at a trade show to collect opt-in names.  Instead of the “fishbowl” to drop in the business card to enter to win the “contest”, why not have the visitors txt a keyword and their email address to a short code and they will be automatically entered in the contest.

The benefits are huge,

  1. You don’t have to enter the data manually at the end of the show. – This saves time and money.
  2. Dramatically reduce the data entry errors.
  3. You are poised to send follow up communications immediately.

Ask your vendor to show you how it’s done.
